We had an exciting presence at the WETEX conference, highlighted by our stage presentation where we shared insights and innovations with a wide audience. Alongside this, we met many potential partners and showcased our WEC device in action at our stand, giving visitors a firsthand look at its capabilities.
Sigma Energy has officially commenced small-scale testing of its Wave Energy Converter (WEC) devices at the state-of-the-art Mile Dragić Production (MDP) Test Center in Zrenjanin, Serbia. The wave generator basin is 12 meters long and built to a 1:50 scale, simulates real ocean conditions. It generates waves up to 20 cm high, representing 10-meter ocean waves. This allows us to better understand the conditions our devices will face, while also significantly accelerating development and innovation.
The primary objective of this testing phase is the continued improvement of our WEC technology, with a particular focus on optimizing efficiency and overall performance. Conducting our tests at the MDP Test Center — a world-class facility equipped with advanced testing infrastructure — allows our team to rigorously evaluate the devices under controlled conditions, refine key design elements, and validate engineering enhancements ahead of larger deployments.
We have chosen to conduct this phase at a small scale as it offers a significantly more cost-effective approach to research and development. This approach enables us to iterate quickly, gather meaningful data, and make informed improvements while keeping resources focused on innovation.
Stay tuned for further updates as testing progresses.
